Description

The fire class of polyurethane, which is an extremely flammable substance, is B3. It ignites rapidly even with the help of a small flame source and continues to burn even after the contact with the fire source is cut off. Over time, it was upgraded to B2 fireproof class with the use of non-flammability additives in line with the needs. However, products above B2 flammability class are needed to minimize the effects of fire. A new macromolecular structure called polyisocyanurate (PIR, polyiso) is formed by allowing the isocyanate, one of the main components of the polyurethane foam, to react with another isocyanate molecules, such as itself.

It is formed as a result of the chemical reaction between Polyisocyanurate (PIR), PMDI (polymeric methyl diphenyl isocyanate) or MDI and polyol, and it is the mixture amounts of MDI and polyol components that distinguish oliisocyanurate from polyurethane. The amount of MDI used in PIR production is higher and they are also allowed to react with themselves, apart from the polyol. As a result, isocyanurate chains with higher chemical stability at high temperatures are formed. These chains are stronger than normal polyurethane chains. Due to the difference in its structure, its flammability and smoke formation are quite low compared to PUR. Thanks to its closed cell structure, it can provide superior thermal insulation.

Top Features:

It is in B s1 d0 (TS-EN 13501-1) non-flammability class.

The thermal conductivity coefficient is quite low. ( λ= 0.020-0.022 W/mK )

It has high fire resistance.

Flammability and smoke formation are quite low compared to PUR.

Provides heat insulation, air and water proof.

Due to the changes in its structure, it cuts off contact with oxygen and therefore does not conduct a flame.

Since it does not contain carcinogenic substances, it can be used safely in the health and food industry.
